Although last week we were still in the midst of a long winter, it appears that spring has now arrived.
We had a number of freeze/thaw cycles during the last few months, but the deep snow coverage provided excellent plant protection. Unfortunately, it affected hard surfaces such as paving stone patios and sidewalks, especially where water drains or gets trapped. The upside to this situation is that pavers can be easily lifted and readjusted.
Last November, Christian and I, attended the Hort Congress in Edmonton and the Green Roofs for Healthy Cities Conference and Trade Show in Vancouver. Without a doubt, our Industry’s focus this year is Sustainable Landscape Projects from green roofs to green walls and green facades to water harvesting. We took this opportunity to complete our Green Roof Professional Accreditation. We joined the Green Roof organization and formed a team of professionals consisting of engineers, roofers, carpenters and suppliers to assist us with our green roofs and living walls related projects.
This winter, I had the opportunity to visit a number of green walls and roofs and met with suppliers and professionals in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver. Meanwhile, Christian furthered his knowledge and expertise on Water Harvesting for our region. He successfully completed his Water Feature certification.
We are excited about our new web site. It contains new articles, tips and discounts related to gardening. This year we are publishing a monthly “e-scape” newsletter. It can be accessed through our website, www.terraland.com or Facebook.
Remember that now is the best time to plan an improvement project of your outdoor green space.
We appreciate your business and look forward to assisting you with your landscape project.
